All Kinds of Minds

All Kinds of Minds provides programs, tools, and a common language for parents, educators, and clinicians to help children with differences in learning achieve success in the classroom and in life. The All Kinds of Minds Web site features an interactive guide to skill problem areas, an explanation of neurodevelopmental dysfunctions that might impede learning, and strategies to manage these issues. It also offers discussion groups and information regarding the Institute's products and programs.

Public Broadcast Station (PBS Online)
PBS Online provides companion Web site for PBS television programs and specials, as well as real-time learning adventures and original Web content including PBS Kids and PBS TeacherSource.

SchwabLearning.org
SchwabLearning is a parents guide to learning differences and provides a roadmap to understanding the language and landscape of learning differences and disabilities. On the site, parents can navigate between Identifying a Learning Difference, Managing a Learning Difference, and Connecting with Others.

LD Online
LD Online is an interactive guide to learning disabilities for parents, teachers, and children. LD OnLine is the official site of The Coordinated Campaign for Learning Disabilities. LD Online provides articles on a wide range of topics, national calendar of events, network of resources, artwork and writings by children, parents, and other individuals, and much more.

NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS


Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD)
The CLD is an international organization that promotes strategies for research and practice through collaboration and advocacy.

Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder (CHADD)
CHADD is a national organization that provides a support network for parents, continuing education about attention deficits, and resources to help children with attention deficits in educational settings.

Learning Disabilities Association (LDA)
LDA has 50 state affiliates and over 775 local chapters and is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all individuals with learning disabilities and their families, to alleviating the restricting effects of learning disabilities, and to supporting endeavors to determine the causes of learning disabilities. The LDA Web site provides information about state chapters and recent publications.

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), Division of Learning Disabilities (DLD)
The CEC's primary purpose is to advance the education of all exceptional students. The DLD is the division that focuses on the needs of individuals with learning disabilities. The Web site provides legislative updates, International programs, and CEC publications.

The International Dyslexia Association (IDA)
The IDA is an international, non-profit, scientific and educational organization dedicated to the study and treatment of dyslexia. IDA provides information on assistive technology, medical and educational research, conferences and seminars, and teaching methods.

National School and Business Partnerships Award
The National School and Business Partnerships Award supports and recognizes the efforts of schools and businesses that partner to improve the academic, social or physical well-being of students. Maximum Award: $10,000. Eligibility: Partnerships involving kindergarten through 12th grade public schools and/or school districts and businesses.

National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD)
The NCLD provides information, services, and programs for children and adults with learning disabilities, their families, educators, and other professionals. The NCLD Web site provides a database of state resources, educational programs, legislative advocacy and public policy.

National Education Association
The National Education Association provides classroom tips, information on higher education, and current news in education. The NEA Foundation for the Improvement of Education (NFIE) offers Learning and Leadership grants for individual ($1,000) and group ($3,000) study to foster improvements in practice, curriculum, and student achievement. National Association of Secondary School Principals
The NASSP is a resource for middle and high school educators and administrators for news, services, resources, and an online community for principals, assistant principals, and aspiring school leaders.

INFORMATION CLEARINGHOUSES


ERIC Clearinghouse on Disabilities and Gifted Education (ERIC EC)
ERIC EC is part of the US Department of Education's information network and is a resource that conducts general information searches and publishes free or low-cost information on special education research, programs, and practices.

AskERIC Virtual Library
The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC), a federally-funded national information system that provides, through its 16 subject-specific clearinghouses, associated adjunct clearinghouses, and support components, a variety of services and products on a broad range of education-related issues. AskERIC is a personalized Internet-based service providing education information to teachers, librarians, counselors, administrators, parents, and others throughout the United States and the world.

National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities (NICHCY)
An information and referral center that provides free information on disabilities and related issues for families, educators, and other professionals.

Special Education Resources on the Internet (SERI)
A collection of Internet accessible information resources of interest to those involved in the fields related to Special Education.

LD Resources
This site provides a collection of articles, Web site links, and organization contacts for people with learning disabilities.

GRANTS FOR EDUCATORS


Fellowships for Hands-On Science Learning
Earthwatch Institute offers educators fully-funded fellowships for hands-on learning with leading scientists doing field research and conservation on one of 130 projects around the world. Maximum Award: fully-funded fellowship. Eligibility: Elementary, middle, and high school educators and administrators of any discipline. Deadline: Applications accepted on a rolling basis.

Outdoor Classroom Grant Program
Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation, International Paper and National Geographic Explorer! classroom magazine have partnered to create an outdoor classroom grant program to provide schools with additional resources to improve their science curriculum by engaging students in hands-on experiences outside the traditional classroom. Maximum Award: $20,000 (to districts or schools with major outdoor classroom projects); $2000 to individual schools. Eligibility: K-12 public schools in the United States. Deadline: varies.

NEA Foundation Learning & Leadership Grant
Opportunities for teachers, education support professionals, and higher education faculty and staff to engage in high-quality professional development and lead their colleagues in professional growth. The grant amount is $2,000 for individuals and $5,000 for groups engaged in collegial study.
